Demo Data

The Demo Data tab is an admin utility that loads a curated, representative dataset into the demo company — so new admins, sales teams, and trainers have a populated environment to work with without touching production data.

What Gets Loaded​

The demo dataset is a fixed, realistic portfolio:

  • 15 Vendors — Microsoft, Salesforce, Atlassian, Slack, Zoom, Adobe, ServiceNow, Okta, GitHub, Snowflake, Datadog, AWS, Figma, HubSpot, Autodesk
  • 23 Software Products — Real product names with proper categorization (SaaS, desktop, IaaS)
  • 23 Licenses — Subscription and perpetual licenses with realistic entitlements, costs, and utilization
  • 150 User Assignments — Sample users across 10 departments with activity dates
  • 15 Contracts — Enterprise agreements and subscriptions with renewal dates
  • 138 Cost Records — 6 months of monthly spend history for trend analysis

Reload Demo Data​

The Reload Demo Data button replaces the demo company's current dataset with a fresh copy of the curated seed. A Current Demo Data summary below the action shows what is loaded right now (vendors, products, licenses, contracts).

Best Practices​

  • Only run Reload Demo Data on the dedicated Demo Company — it is a demo-environment utility, not a production import path.
  • Reload between training sessions so each cohort starts from the same baseline.
  • Pair a reload with Recalculate Compliance on Compliance and Run Alert Check on Alerts so the derived surfaces reflect the fresh dataset.
