Live Monitor

The Live Monitor page is a near-real-time view of every user currently active in BEAK SWA. It refreshes automatically every 10 seconds (toggleable) and surfaces who is online, what application they are using, their current status, and how long they have been in that state. A pulsing green dot next to the page title reinforces that the view is live.

Auto-Refresh

The page polls the activity feed every 10 seconds when auto-refresh is enabled. Two controls live in the top-right:

  • Refresh — Manually pull the latest snapshot. The spinner animates while the request is in flight.
  • Auto-refresh — A toggle pill (Auto-refresh ON / Auto-refresh OFF) that pauses or resumes the polling loop.

A timestamp next to the controls (Last updated: 15:32:08) confirms when the page last received fresh data.

Note: Auto-refresh continues only while the tab is in focus. Switching tabs may pause network requests; coming back to the tab resumes the loop on the next interval.

KPI Tiles

Four tiles count users by status at the moment of the last refresh:

  • Online Now — Users with any activity recorded in the recent window. The tile shows a percentage delta against the previous snapshot (green up arrow for an increase, red down arrow for a decrease).
  • Active — Users actively interacting with their device.
  • Idle — Users whose device is on but has crossed the idle threshold.
  • Offline — Users without any recent activity.

Active Users

A table that lists every user currently online with these columns:

ColumnDescription
EmployeeFull name
DepartmentDepartment from the user record
Current AppThe application in foreground at the moment of the snapshot
StatusActive, Idle, or another state, with a coloured pill (green for active, yellow for idle, grey otherwise)
DurationHow long the user has been in the current state
Last ActivityTimestamp of the most recent captured event

The table is paginated at 15 rows per page. A search box in the table header lets you narrow to a specific employee or application, and an Export button writes the current rows to an Excel file for offline review. When there are no active users at the moment, the table shows a friendly empty state.

Best Practices

  • Use Live Monitor for short, time-bound supervision needs — shift handovers, on-call coverage checks, or live training sessions. It is not designed for long-running analysis (see Self Analytics or Team Analytics for that).
  • Turn off auto-refresh when leaving the tab open in the background. Continuous polling for hours adds load without value if no one is watching.
  • A user appearing as Idle for an extended period during work hours can be normal (meetings, focus time, lunch). Cross-reference against Behaviour Analytics before raising it as an issue.
  • The Current App column is the foreground application only — users may have other applications open and active in the background. This view is intentionally narrow.
