Cost Optimization

The Cost Optimization page models where spend can be reduced rather than where seats are idle. It runs ten disjoint statistical models over connector usage data, and the disjointness is the point: each model targets a distinct slice of spend, so the savings they report never double-count and the totals can be added together.

In the current release the models are built over the Anthropic Claude connector, and the page opens on Ways to Reduce Claude Cost.

Scope Toggle​

Two buttons switch what the models are computed over.

  • Claude usage — Spend and usage from the Anthropic Claude connector
  • All software — The wider software estate

Recompute​

Recompute re-runs the models against current connector data. Like the Savings Engine, this surface is point-in-time rather than live — recompute after a connector sync so the recommendations reflect the latest usage.

Prerequisites​

The models need a configured connector for the active company. Without one the page shows Nothing to model yet and names the connector it is missing — connect the Anthropic Claude connector for the company, let it complete a first sync, then recompute.

Note: Connectors are scoped per company. A connector configured for one company does not populate this page for another — switch the company in the header dropdown to check each one.

Best Practices​

  • Connect and fully sync the AI provider connector before judging the output — an empty page here almost always means missing connector data rather than an absence of savings.
  • Because the ten models are disjoint, treat the reported savings as additive; there is no need to discount for overlap the way you would with independently-generated recommendations.
  • Pair this page with Cost Management → Forecast when building a budget ask — one gives the reduction opportunity, the other the trajectory without it.
  • Recompute after each connector sync rather than on a fixed calendar, so the models never run against stale usage.
