Database Datasources

Beak AI Studio enables agents to connect to a wide variety of SQL and NoSQL databases, empowering workflows with both structured and unstructured data.

Supported Database Types

Beak AI Studio supports direct integration with the following databases:

  • SQL Databases:

    • MySQL
    • PostgreSQL
    • SQL Server (Microsoft SQL Server)
    • Oracle Database
  • NoSQL & Search Databases:

    • MongoDB
    • Cassandra
    • Redis
    • Elasticsearch
    • OpenSearch

Note: Other databases may be accessible via standard drivers, but the above are officially supported and tested.

Integration Methods

  • Direct Connection:
    • Connect using standard database drivers and connection strings.
  • Cloud Database Support:
    • Integrate with managed cloud databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, MongoDB Atlas, Amazon OpenSearch Service).
  • Authentication Methods:
    • Username/password (all supported databases)
    • SSL/TLS certificates (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
    • IAM roles or API keys (for cloud-managed NoSQL/search databases)
    • Connection strings with embedded credentials

Configuration Requirements

  • Connection Details:

    • Hostname or IP address
    • Port
    • Database name
    • Username and password (or other authentication as required)
    • For cloud databases: full connection string or URI
    • Optional: SSL/TLS certificates for secure connections
  • Network Access:

    • Ensure Beak AI Studio can reach the database server (consider VPN, firewall, or IP allowlisting).

Supported Formats

  • Data Types:

    • All standard SQL data types (INT, VARCHAR, DATE, etc.)
    • JSON/BSON for NoSQL databases
    • Binary and text fields
  • Query Methods:

    • SQL queries for relational databases
    • Aggregation pipelines and document queries for MongoDB
    • Search and analytics queries for Elasticsearch and OpenSearch
    • Key-value operations for Redis and Cassandra

Example Use Cases

  • Customer Data Retrieval: Query customer records from PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Analytics Aggregation: Aggregate sales or usage data from MongoDB, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch.
  • Full-Text Search: Use Elasticsearch or OpenSearch for semantic and keyword search across documents.
  • Session Management: Store and retrieve session data using Redis.
  • Enterprise Reporting: Integrate Oracle Database for business intelligence and reporting.

Best Practices

  • Use SSL/TLS for all production database connections.
  • Limit database user permissions to only what is required for agent workflows.
  • Monitor query performance and optimize indexes for large datasets.
  • Regularly review and rotate credentials for security.
