Bandwidth Analysis

Bandwidth Analysis gives you a single, live view of how every managed device in your fleet is performing on the network — download and upload speeds, latency, and VPN behaviour — all in one place. Instead of chasing individual complaints or logging into devices one by one, your team sees the whole estate at a glance and can drill straight down to the device that needs attention.

It is built for the reality of hybrid and remote work, where connectivity problems are one of the most common — and most time-consuming — sources of support tickets. Bandwidth Analysis turns scattered, anecdotal complaints into clear, measurable data your team can act on.

Why It Matters

"My internet is slow" is one of the hardest tickets to resolve, because the cause could sit anywhere — the device, the home connection, the VPN, or the ISP. Bandwidth Analysis closes that gap by answering three questions quickly:

  • Is this a real problem? — See actual measured speeds and latency rather than relying on the user's description.
  • Where is it happening? — Pinpoint the specific devices, users, or locations that are struggling.
  • Is the VPN to blame? — Compare performance with the VPN on versus off to confirm or rule it out instantly.

The result is faster resolution times, fewer escalations, and the ability to fix issues proactively — often before users even notice.

Fleet Health at a Glance

A row of summary tiles at the top of the page shows the headline numbers for the whole fleet over your chosen time period:

  • Devices reporting — How many managed devices are sending data in the selected window.
  • Typical download speed and latency — The fleet-wide norms, so you can see what "normal" looks like today.
  • VPN usage — How much of the fleet's activity is running through the VPN.
  • Flagged issues — How many devices currently have a detected problem.
  • VPN penalty — How much the VPN is slowing things down. This tile turns red when the impact is severe, so problems stand out immediately.

An interactive chart plots download speed, upload speed, and latency across the selected window. This makes it easy to spot patterns — a slowdown every morning when staff log on, a latency spike at a particular time, or a steady decline that points to a growing problem.

Understanding VPN Impact

Several views are dedicated to the VPN, because it is so often the hidden cause of slow performance:

  • VPN usage — How much of your fleet's activity runs through the VPN.
  • VPN on vs off comparison — A side-by-side look at typical speeds and latency with the VPN connected versus not, with clear indicators when performance gets noticeably worse.
  • VPN adoption over time — How many devices are on the VPN through the day, so you can line up slowdowns with usage peaks.

Finding Problem Devices

When something is wrong, you need to reach the affected devices quickly. Bandwidth Analysis offers three ways in:

  • Slowest devices — A ranked list of the ten devices with the lowest current download speed. Click any one to investigate it directly.
  • Health breakdown — A simple Healthy / Warning / Unhealthy split of the whole fleet, so you can see at a glance how many devices need attention.
  • Full device list — A searchable, sortable table of every device showing its user, location, speeds, latency, ISP, and any issues. Filter to show only devices with problems, then click through to a single device for the full picture.

How Device Health Is Scored

Every device is automatically assessed and placed into one of three bands, so your team can prioritise without interpreting raw numbers:

StatusWhat it means
HealthyPerforming well, with no detected issues. No action needed.
WarningShowing early signs of trouble — for example higher-than-normal latency or data that hasn't refreshed recently. Worth a look.
UnhealthySignificant problems, such as very slow speeds or a slow connection over the VPN. These devices should be addressed first.

Each flagged device shows exactly why it was flagged — slow link, slow over VPN, high latency, or stale data — so your team knows where to start without guesswork.

Time Windows and Sharing

  • Choose your window — View the last hour, day, or up to 30 days. Every panel updates to match.
  • Light and dark themes — The view adapts to light and dark themes and to your branding.
  • Export and report — Download the full analysis as a PDF, Excel, or CSV file to share with colleagues, leadership, or in regular reports.

Best Practices

  • Start with the VPN penalty tile — If it is red, compare the VPN on vs off view before anything else; the VPN is the single most common hidden cause of slow performance.
  • Triage from the slowest-devices list — Work the ten lowest-throughput devices first, then filter the full device list to problem devices for the wider sweep.
  • Read trends, not one-off spikes — Recurring patterns (a morning log-on slowdown, a daily latency spike) point to a fixable root cause; isolated spikes usually do not.
  • Address Unhealthy devices first — Use the flag reason (slow link, slow over VPN, high latency, or stale data) as the starting point for each one.
  • Bring in device context — Cross-reference a flagged device with Asset Management for its hardware, owner, and location before deciding on a fix.
