Audit Logs
The audit log records every change made through the console or the API, and every key validation made by a product. It answers who did what, to which entity, and when.
Columns
- Timestamp — When the action happened
- User — The operator who performed it, or the product installation for validations
- Action — One of the action types below
- Entity — The type and identifier of the record affected — tenant, product, plan, licence, key, or user
- Description — A sentence describing the change
Action Types
| Action | Recorded when |
|---|---|
Create / Update / Delete | Any entity is created, edited, or removed |
Activate / Suspend / Resume / Revoke / Renew / Expire | A licence changes state, by an operator or by the nightly job |
Generate Key | A product key is generated |
Validate Key | A product or the Validate Key tool checks a key; includes the calling IP address |
Login / Logout | An operator signs in or out |
Filtering
Filter by action, entity type, user, and date range, and search descriptions. The most recent entries also appear on the Dashboard.
Retention
A weekly job on Sunday at 03:00 removes audit entries older than the retention period, keeping the log fast to query.
Note: The Audit Logs page shows real operator names, so it is not pictured here.
Best Practices
- Review
Validate Keyentries for a licence when a customer reports access problems — The timestamps and IP addresses show whether the product reached the Product Manager and what it was told. - Export or note the audit trail before a tenant is deleted — Deletion is permanent.
