Multi-Agent Creation & Orchestration

Beak AI Studio enables the design and execution of complex workflows involving multiple collaborating agents. Important: Multi-agent orchestration in Beak AI Studio is strictly limited to integrating pre-existing agents. You cannot create or introduce new agent types as part of a multi-agent workflow. This ensures modularity, maintainability, and clear separation of agent responsibilities.

Design Constraints & Important Notes

  • Only Pre-Existing Agents:
When building a multi-agent system, you must select from agents that have already been created in Studio. The orchestration process does not support the creation of new agent types or definitions within the workflow.
  • No Dynamic Agent Creation:
All agents to be orchestrated must be fully configured and tested as standalone agents before integration.
  • Rationale:
This design enforces modularity, encourages reuse of well-tested agents, and simplifies debugging and maintenance.

Step-by-Step Setup & Configuration

1. Initiate Multi-Agent Creation

  • In Studio, click Add Agent.
  • When prompted, select Multi Agent as the agent mode.

2. Select Pre-Existing Agents

  • Choose from the list of agents that have already been created and configured in Studio.

3. Select an Architecture

  • Choose between:
    • Multi-Agent Orchestration (hierarchical, coordinated)
    • Multi-Agent Swarm (decentralized, collaborative)
  • See Supported Architectures for guidance.

4. Integrate Skills and Data Sources

  • Assign pre-built or custom skills to each agent as needed.
  • Connect agents to required data sources (databases, APIs, files, etc.).

5. Test and Debug

  • Run the multi-agent orchestration in the Playground.
  • Inspect agent interactions, data flow, and outputs.
  • Use step-by-step mode to debug complex interactions.

6. Publish and Monitor

  • Publish the orchestrated system to be used by the organization.
  • Monitor agent runs, performance, and collaboration in Observability.

Example Use Cases

Document Processing Pipeline

  • Scenario: Automate the extraction, validation, and summarization of legal documents.
  • Workflow:
    1. Use pre-existing Extractor, Validator, and Summarizer agents.
    2. Orchestrate their collaboration to process documents end-to-end.
  • Benefit: Modular, scalable, and easy to extend for new document types.

Customer Support Automation

  • Scenario: Route customer queries to the right specialist and collect feedback.
  • Workflow:
    1. Integrate FAQ bot, escalation agent, and feedback collector agents (all pre-existing).
    2. Coordinate their actions for seamless customer support.
  • Benefit: Improved response times and customer satisfaction.

Collaborative Research Assistant

  • Scenario: Multi-disciplinary research team automates literature review and synthesis.
  • Workflow:
    1. Integrate Search, Synthesis, and Reporting agents (all pre-existing).
    2. Orchestrate their collaboration for comprehensive research.
  • Benefit: Accelerates research and ensures comprehensive coverage.

Financial Analysis Swarm

  • Scenario: Multiple agents analyze different market sectors and collaboratively generate investment recommendations.
  • Workflow:
    1. Integrate sector analysis agents and a consensus agent (all pre-existing).
    2. Aggregate insights for robust recommendations.
  • Benefit: Diverse perspectives and robust, consensus-driven recommendations.

Healthcare Triage

  • Scenario: Agents collaborate to triage patient cases in a hospital.
  • Workflow:
    1. Integrate Intake, Diagnosis, and Treatment agents (all pre-existing).
    2. Coordinate their actions for efficient triage.
  • Benefit: Faster, more accurate triage and improved patient outcomes.

Best Practices

  • Pre-define and test all agents before integrating them into a multi-agent orchestration.
  • Clearly define agent responsibilities and interfaces.
  • Modularize agents and orchestration logic for maintainability and scalability.
  • Monitor and log agent interactions for troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Test thoroughly in the Playground before publishing.
